Don't Mess With The Doctor

Medyo marami ang patients ko that night (Thanks to JR, na pinalangin na sana matoxic ako!) and the wave of patients continued even after I have taken my ARVs.

I only have one nurse for that shift. So I have to do some errands as well. Utos ko, gawa ko.

A patient bathed with blood was rushed in by some of his hysterical, drunken friends. My nurse then interviewed the patient, while I was inserting a Foley catheter on another patient.

According to the interview, the patient was driving a motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol, without any helmet on. He allegedly went off-balance, thus falling from his bike sustaining multiple abrasions on his arms, elbows, legs and knees, and a big lacerated wound on his head.

My nurse was then asking for the personal information of the patient, when...

alcohol-influenced friend: Ano ba yang mga tinatanong mo? Nakita mo na ngang sugatan yung pasyente, gamutin niyo muna yung pasyente! Mamaya na yang interview na yan! First aid muna dapat.

Medyo kinakaya-kaya niya yung nurse ko and so I butted in.

Efavirenz-influenced me, irritated: Sir, tinitignan na namin yung pasyente mo. But of course, I didn't bother telling him that. Sayang lang sa effort ng pagpapaliwanag.)

friend: Ganun ba yun?

He continued ranting, until...

me: O sige!

I attended to the patient, and asked for a plain cranial CT scan (though, I know it wasn't really necessary), a trauma series X-ray (skull, chest, and pelvis) including those which the patient complained of being very painful, though I know again it wasn't necessary.

You don't mess with the doctor under the influence of Efavirenz! Hahaha!

Aja!
